Meet the Team
Founder
Karen Koenig
As the Founder of Old Friends Club, Karen has supported people living with dementia and their caregivers for 12 years and is grateful for the difference Old Friends Club has made in many lives.
The Toolkit she developed is used by a growing number of organizations to start and operate a social respite program for their communities. Karen is an advocate by nature, with a desire to promote connected, supportive communities.
She holds a bachelors in Community Psychology from the University of Washington, and Certificates in both Gerontology and Nonprofit Management from UW Professional and Continuing Education.
She gardens, bakes, is learning woodworking and wood carving, and has ambitions to become a Steward with the Washington Native Plant Society when the opportunity arises. She lives in Redmond, WA, with her partner and OFC Co-founder Bob and their little labradoodle friend, Luna.
Co-founder, Executive Director
Bob Delf
With more than 42 years of experience working as a CEO, Bob serves as the Co-founder of Old Friends Club, where he has been sharing his business knowledge, expertise, and experience since 2015. From 2000–2015, he worked with MusicWorks Northwest, one of the largest nonprofit community music schools in the Pacific Northwest.
He is an alum of University of British Columbia with an undergraduate degree in Math and Computer Science and a Master of Business Administration.
Bob enjoys playing the piano and spending his days helping companies grow, differentiate, and succeed as a consultant.
Affiliate Development Manager
Cecily Kaplan
Cecily's work involves outreach with community-based organizations and faith communities. She focuses engaging them in the work of social respite, shepherding them as they open their Old Friends Club, and providing ongoing support.
She holds a certificate in Gerontology and has worked in the field of aging for over 40 years, most recently as the Director of Senior Programs and Services for the Phinney Neighborhood Association. Having just retired, Cecily wanted to continue working with and on behalf of seniors and in particular helping communities support those with dementia and their family caregivers.
Cecily notes she has the best volunteer job as a Pen Pal writer for Pasado's Safe Haven: she writes to school children in the "voice" of one of the many saved and sheltered animals.
